Introduction to university level reading and writing, with an emphasis on analysis. Close examination of a variety of texts (personal, popular, literary, professional, academic) from culturally diverse traditions. Practice in common rhetorical strategies used in academic writing. Composition of clear, well-organized, and well-developed essays, with varying purposes and differing audiences, from personal to academic.

Class Dates: This class runs from 2022-06-27 to 2022-08-05.
EWRT001A.02Q: This section is for students with a LART250 and EWRT1A placement and requires concurrent enrollment in LART250.02Q. Open to all students but recommended for students with HS GPA between 2.0 and 2.59. Students who place directly into EWRT 1A should search for a section without the “Q” designation. For assistance, please contact the English Performance Success counselors at firstname.lastname@example.org. This is an online class with SOME scheduled meetings as noted in the class listing. The rest of the class can be completed independently each week on the student's own time. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. Most De Anza classes will use the Canvas course management system. We recommend a laptop or desktop computer to successfully complete the course; a tablet or phone may not be adequate for all assignments and tests.
