Sociology of Globalization and Social Change

Course Description

An introduction to the sociological study of globalization and other forms of social change. Macrosociological analysis of economic, political, military, cultural, technological, and environmental aspects of globalization; history of globalization, European colonialism and decolonization processes; impact of multinational corporations and global political and financial institutions, and social movements from cross-cultural and global perspectives.

    De Anza will host its annual Enrollment Day event for graduating high school students and their families on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Main Quad and other locations.

    Sixteen faculty members were granted tenure by the Foothill-De Anza district Board of Trustees on Monday, during a special celebration attended by Chancellor Lee Lambert and leaders from the college and district. Colleagues, deans and family members were also there to congratulate them.

    Four members of the De Anza College community will be honored in March with Excellence Awards from the national League for Innovation in the Community College. They were selected for their outstanding service to the college and its students.
