COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
                ART AND DESIGN
DIGITAL ART AND GRAPHIC DESIGN
Entering Grades 10-12 – Learn to create dynamic digital drawings and illustrations as well as logos, eye-catching web banners and special effects using DrawPlus X5 and other design software. Students will use Shape Builder, blending and 3-D conversion tools to convert photos
into vector images, make animated GIFs and more.
The course will include creative and critical thinking exercises to help inspire originality. Students should bring a USB  ash drive for saving work.
DRAWING AND PAINTING INTENSIVE
Entering Grades 10-12 – This class will focus on repre- sentational and expressive drawing and painting. Stu- dents will create individual pieces and collaborative art- work that will be included in a fall exhibit at the Euphrat Museum of Art. Students also will develop technical and creative thinking skills, while learning to create a portfo- lio and design exhibitions. Students, families and friends will be invited to a reception and recognition ceremony.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING, ENGINEERING AND ROBOTICS
INTRODUCTORY AND INTERMEDIATE
JAVA PROGRAMMING
Entering Grades 10-12 –This class serves as an introduction to programming games and simulations using the Java programming language, and as a skills- development workshop for intermediate students. Programming concepts and techniques are introduced and practiced through a series of applications, such
as creating physics simulations and simple interactive games. Students will use the Java programming language to de ne objects, variables and methods for implementing simulations, and to build and test simple programs using operators, expressions and input/output functions. Class sessions include time to work on the programs with help from the instructor. Some homework time may be required to complete the lessons. Software and lessons can be accessed for use at home.
INTRODUCTORY AND INTERMEDIATE PYTHON PROGRAMMING FOR THE RASPBERRY PI
Entering Grades 10-12 – This class serves as an introduction to programming using the Python language and as a skills-development workshop for intermediate students. The course builds on basic programming skills, giving students the opportunity to apply programming knowledge to the Raspberry Pi and peripherals, in order to mimic and debug real-world Python applications. Class sessions include time to work on the programs with help from the instructor. Some homework time may be required to complete the lessons. The Raspberry Pi and associated components are included in the class price. After the program, students will keep their Raspberry Pi.
   Art and Design courses are offered in partnership with the Euphrat Museum of Art at De Anza College.
