                WRITING, READING AND VOCABULARY
GRADE 2 READING, WRITING AND ★ VOCABULARY ADVANCEMENT [2 HOURS] Entering Grade 2 – This class is designed to strengthen the reading foundation and writing skills of students reading at or near the second-grade level. The course will focus on improving  uency, increasing reading comprehension and developing vocabulary. Through
a variety of reading materials, students will have the opportunity to develop reading skills and strategies improving process and retention. Writing will be integrated throughout the program.
GRADE 3 READING, WRITING AND VOCABULARY ADVANCEMENT★
Entering Grade 3 – This class is designed to strengthen the reading foundation and writing skills of students reading at or near the third-grade level. The course will focus on improving  uency, increasing reading comprehension and developing vocabulary. Students
will have the opportunity to develop their skills and strategies related to the reading process. Students will apply these skills in their study of grade-level appropriate poetry,  ction, non- ction and theater. Because learning is enhanced when the reading and writing processes
are connected, writing will be integrated throughout the program.
GRADE 4 WRITING: PARAGRAPHS TO ESSAYS★ Entering Grade 4 – This class will emphasize the fundamentals of expository and informational writing. Students will acquire the skills needed to write well- organized paragraphs, summaries and essays. Students will also learn pre-writing techniques, syntax, word choice, grammar, punctuation and revision processes. At the end of the course, students will have a portfolio to take home, demonstrating their academic progress and achievement.
