                ART AND DESIGN
DIGITAL ART AND ANIMATION
Entering Grades 5 and 6; Entering Grades 7-9 (Offered
for two age groups in separate classes) – Learn to use DrawPlus X5 and other computer drawing, cartooning and animation programs to create digital works of art and short animations. Students will turn original drawings into animations, following a step-by-step process from creation, re ning images and adding backgrounds to exporting  les as Adobe Flash animations. Students will study animation techniques and history as well as learn to do concept mapping, storyboards and more. Students should bring a USB  ash drive for saving work.
DIGITAL ART AND GRAPHIC DESIGN
Entering Grades 5 and 6; Entering Grades 7-9 (Offered for two age groups in separate classes) – Learn to create dynamic digital drawings and illustrations as well as logos, eye catching web banners and special effects using DrawPlus X5 and other design software. Students will use Shape Builder, blending and 3-D conversion tools to convert photos into vector images, make animated GIFs and more. Creative and critical thinking exercises will help inspire originality and build each student’s creative platform. Students should bring a USB  ash drive for saving work.
DIGITAL CARTOONING AND COMICS
Entering Grades 5 and 6; Entering Grades 7-9 (Offered for two age groups in separate classes) – Discover
the secrets of digital magic and learn about creating cartoons and comics in a variety of visual styles including Manga and enhanced photo-realism. Students
will analyze content and narrative devices such as  ashbacks and foreshadowing, and explore the cultural and historical aspects of cartooning. They also will learn to apply key art and design principles that will make their work shine. Students should bring a USB  ash drive for saving work.
DRAWING AND PAINTING STUDIO
Entering Grades 5 and 6; Entering Grades 7-9 (Offered for two age groups in separate classes) – In a focused studio atmosphere, students will learn and practice classical and contemporary drawing and painting techniques. Students will strengthen observational and creative thinking, sharpen rendering skills and gain con dence in their artistic abilities. Lessons will include multi-point perspective, depicting shadow and light sources as well as creating dynamic compositions.
SCULPTURE AND CERAMICS
Entering Grades 5 and 6; Entering Grades 7-9 (Offered for two age groups in separate classes) – Create original sculptures and ceramic artwork in a focused studio environment. Learn and practice different clay and sculpture techniques, while strengthening observational, analytical and creative thinking skills. Students also will view works by notable sculptors from around the world and design their own masterpieces. They will glaze and  re their ceramic projects.
