CREATING ART LIKE
THE MASTERS (430*)
is course reviews some of the most renowned art masters from classic to contemporary eras, including Rembrandt, Picasso and O’Kee e. Students will be encouraged to imitate the style of each artist, as taught in class, and to experiment with each artist’s techniques. No art experience
is required.
Instructor: Viviana Leija-Sysak is a
visual artist who has worked for television production companies and as an art instructor in a variety of media, from drawing to video and animation.
Class requirements: Must be age 15 or older. Students under 18 must take this class with an adult who has also registered.
Cost: $120
Materials fee: $15 (payable to instructor)
Dates and times: Sept. 21 and 28, Oct. 5, 12, 19 and 26, Nov. 2 and 9 (eight Fridays), 6:15-7:45 p.m.
SILK EMBROIDERY PAINTING (428*)
is class brings modern creativity to an ancient art form. Unique and stunning designs can be embroidered on wall panels, clothing and other media. Students will learn to use shading to illustrate dimension; split stitches; long and short stitches with
a single strand of cotton; and silk thread
on silk fabric, crepe and other fabrics. During the rst class, students will view a demonstration, review previous projects and discuss supplies. Students will then choose a project to participate in through the course.
Instructor: Azita Farshin grew up with a family of art and design instructors. She has taught embroidery for more than 10 years and has shown several art exhibitions in Asia.
Class requirements: Must be age 14 or older. Students under 18 must take this class with an adult who has also registered.
Cost: $158
Materials fee: $40-80, depending on the
choice of project (payable to instructor)
Dates and times: Sept. 22 and 29, Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27, Nov. 3 and 10 (eight Saturdays), 2:30-4:30 p.m.
