THE NIGHT SKY (377*)
Learn to locate constellations and to identify some bright stars and planets. Understand the changes in the moon, the motions of the sky and the seasonal changes in the visibility of stars and planets. In this class, you will
get a feel for the enormous distances to the objects you can see in the night sky.  is very popular, nontechnical astronomy course is designed for any community member interested in the local sky. It will be held in the De Anza College Planetarium.
Instructor: Karl von Ahnen is director emeritus of the De Anza College Planetarium.
Class requirements: Must be age 12 or older. Students under 18 must take this class with an adult who has also registered.
Cost: $59 Materials fee: $3
Dates and times: Oct. 19 and 26 (two Fridays), 6:30-9:30 p.m.

QUANTUM MECHANICS
FOR EVERYONE (440*)
Quantum mechanics is a branch of physics that explains how things work. It provides
a set of laws that are believed to govern
the behavior of everything in the physical universe. For more than a century, it has been an e ective key to understanding all kinds of things encountered in daily life.  e class will explore this elegant and exciting subject in a nontechnical, nonmathematical way.
Instructor: Awanish Mishra holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a minor in quantum physics, along with a master’s degree in theoretical chemistry.
Class requirements: Must be age 14 or older. Students under 18 must take this class with an adult who has also registered.
Cost: $54
