The issues and challenges that De Anza students face
- Parking lots full - Get to school early, 6:45 AM there is plenty of parking
- Parking lot crowded when leaving class - Leave school 20 minutes after class ends.
- Poor parkers - fit, if not park somewhere else
- Work - take less units, stagger your work or school so they don't conflict, win the lotto, FAFSA financial aid forms as soon as possible and get the max. Be careful about loans though
- Family issues - talk to counselors here at de anza, move out,
- Commuting - carpool, move closer to school so you can walk, bus, public, clipper card for free if you're a student.
- Commuting to two schools - go to one school
- No role models - push you, positive reinforcement, support, - seek out a professor to help out, make a group of friends. Form a study group,
- Lack of desire or motivation - set small achievable goals, link them, find your passion,
- Feel lack a failure -
- Feel like your wasting time - Get all A's and then transfer,
- "A C gets me a degree" Unmotivated, low expectations
- Don't appreciate opportunity in this country or college -
- Not getting the classes required to graduate. talk to a counselor, register the first second you are able to, fill out degree works, choose a major, finish the check list on myportal, good good grades, certain groups of people get to register early (veterans, athletes, note takers, programs like Puente, San Kofa)
- Financial struggles - rent your books, Sell your books, read the reserve books in the library, find pdfs on the internet, BOGG waiver, Pell Grant, scholarships.
- Counselors - Long wait, difficult to make appointments, won't make appointments if student has random questions.
- Traffic getting to school
- Go to class, go home or go to work, no interaction with other students - Common complaint
