College Math Preparation Level 1: Pre Algebra - 5 Units.
DAY: Monday Wednesday TIME: 6:30 - 8:45 P.M.  ROOM: MLC108

Course Objectives: This course covers basic arithmetic in application problems, estimation, the real number system, variables and linear equations, graphs of linear equation and the Cartesian coordinate system and the concept of functions.

Textbook: Prealgebra Textbook, Second Edition, Department of Mathematics, College of the Redwoods, 2012-2013. Book Download.

Materials: Pencil, eraser, paper, graph paper, 3 inch by 5 inch cards. No calculators are allowed.

Time commitment: According to the college catalog, page 35 under Units, “Students should expect two hours of outside preparation for each one hour spent in class.” Since the class meets 4 + hours a week, it is expected a minimum of 8 hours a week should be spent on this class. Mastery of the material should determine by how much time you spend, not the clock.

Electronics Devices: The use of cell phones, cameras, texting devices or any other unauthorized electronic devices are not allow in class. Please do not bring to class.

Cheating: Cheating will not be tolerated. If caught, then a grade of 'F' will be assigned for the course and the division dean will be notified.
