College Math Preparation Level 2: Beginning Algebra

Textbook: Intermediate Algebra for College Students, 7th edition by Robert Blitzer.
Important information about the book.

Materials: Pencil, eraser, paper, graph paper, 3 inch by 5 inch cards. Graphing or scientific calculator desirable.

Prerequisites: Qualifying score on the Math Placement Test within last calendar year; or Mathematics 210 with a grade of C or better, or equivalent. Advisory: English Writing 211 and Reading 211 (or Language Arts 211), or English as a Second Language 272 and 273

Course Objectives: Application of linear functions, quadratic functions and linear systems to problems. Emphasis on the development of models of real world applications and interpretation of their characteristics.

Time Commitment: According to the college catalog, under, UNITS, page 35, “Students should expect two hours of outside preparation for each one hour spent in class.” Thus it is expected that students that take my classes should spend at least 8 hours a week outside of class.

Important: The use of cell phones, cameras, texting devices or any other unauthorized electronic devices are not allow in class.

Academic Integrity: It is assumed that all students will pursue their studies with integrity and honesty; however all students should know at incidents of academic dishonesty like cheating and plagiarism are taken very seriously. Student involved in cheating will be dropped with a F for the course. Further disciplinary action by the administration might follow.
