Meeting Notes - June 5, 2014
Attending: Ceballos, Claros, Cole, Glapion, Haynes, Kirkpatrick, Mandy, Mieso, Moberg, Robles,Thai
There were no additions to the agenda.
Announcements – There will be an additional SSPBT Meeting on Wednesday,
June 18, to review the SSSP Draft Plan.
SSSP Planning-Counseling 200 classes may be extended so students can complete their orientation between 7/11 & 8/8. Lack of space to hold the orientations in during the summer is an issue (a lab is needed).
Need clarification if Counseling 200 will be offered online by July 11th for student enrollment in the fall quarter. New students can take Counseling 200 during the spring to develop an abbreviated Ed plan.
Recommendation - invite Lourdes or Joni to SSPBT meeting to clarify if we will receive credit for the times students are seen, what the matches are and where the money goes besides the Matriculation.
Discussion regarding the 3-1 match and how to meet it – comment that during the high school visits, students were entered with codes in Banner manually and the codes need to be in SARS for credit.
Suggestion - Use Clockworks as a bridge to capture student information, showing work with students over and above.
Concern about having an appeal process in place (state mandate) for students that lose their priority registration because they are not a full-time or part-time student and a deadline that students can appeal by (first week of registration). Recommendation that EOPS/DSPS have a policy and request EPC to keep DSPS students off the list so they aren’t moved to a lower registration level.
Program Review Updates
Still waiting for some PRs. Please send as soon as possible. Will be posted on the SSPBT web site by the end of June and plan to review in the fall.
Reviewed questions for SSPBT Annual Questionnaire – Moberg will send out questions was used last year.
Discussion regarding Goals and Priorities for 2014-15 included: Less emphasis on Veterans and Foster Youth and more on SSSP (discuss what works and what does not), advocating for resources and space to hold workshops to meet the SSSP mandate, ways to communicate out, how do we change the message.
Suggestion - add Equity and Access as a goal.
Everyone asked to bring back their report for review and compilation.
Suggestion- Use PRs to develop a five-year action plan – Agenda item for fall.
