CCCCO/CCLC Budget Webinar - May 15, 2012

May 7, 2012

Dear Colleagues,

As you likely know, Jerry Brown is expected to release his revised 2012-13 budget (May Revise) on Monday, May 14. The May Revise will update the 2012-13 spending plan Governor Brown outlined in January – especially in light of lower than projected revenues in the current year. In addition, we expect the Administration to provide more detail related to the Governor’s ballot measure – revenue and expenditure proposals if the measure passes, and trigger reductions in the event the ballot measure fails.

We have scheduled two web-based conference calls on May 15th in coordination with the Chancellor’s Office to explain the May Revise and answer any questions you have. California Community Colleges Chancellor Jack Scott, Vice Chancellor of Fiscal Policy Dan Troy, League President and CEO Scott Lay, and Director of Fiscal Policy Theresa Tena will walk through the May Revise proposal for community colleges and answer questions submitted via CCC Confer. The online presentation will support an unlimited number of participants and we strongly encourage folks to follow the presentation online. The webinar will last one hour and we anticipate media will also participate online. Finally, the webinar will be recorded and will be available on the CCC Confer web site within 24 hours.

I encourage you to mark your calendar for one of the calls on:

  • Tuesday, May 15: 10 a.m.
  • Tuesday, May 15: 3 p.m.

These webinars will be in addition to the League’s normal e-mail analysis, which will be distributed shortly after the release of the May Revise. Comprehensive budget analysis, will also be available on the League’s Budget Advocacy Action Center at www.ccleague.net. In addition, we encourage folks to follow the Chancellor’s Office twitter account, @cccbudgetnews, and the League’s twitter account, @ccleague.

Sincerely,
