 INTRODUCTION TO JAVA PROGRAMMING FOR KIDS AND TEENS – GRADES 6-10 (420*)
Java is one of the most widely used languages for creating desktop and web applications!  is course is an introduction to using
Java with object-oriented programming principles. Students will learn about primitive and non-primitive data types, control  ow constructs, built-in class libraries and object-oriented programming concepts including classes, objects, method overloading and encapsulation. Assignments will include using built-in and programmer- de ned classes, performing basic input and output operations, and solving programming problems.
INTRODUCTION TO SCRATCH PROGRAMMING – GRADES 2-5 (385*)
 is course walks students through the steps of programming a game, explaining key concepts as they arise. Students will start by sketching out what the  nal game will look like, before planning and coding the main parts of the program.  is course provides
a hands-on, problem-solving approach to learning programming and related concepts in computer science.  is approach is designed to cultivate students’ imaginations and make the computer-programming experience accessible.
Instructor: Eya Badal is a longtime so ware engineer who is currently pursuing an advanced so ware engineering degree.
She has a knack for making di cult topics understandable.
Class requirements: Tablet or laptop with a USB port to connect to the internet.
