Espinosa-Pieb highlighted the important aspects to review including enrollment trends, faculty load, sections, equity and success.

Accreditation – Mallory Newell

Mallory announced that the self-study report for II. A – Instructional Programs is due on December 12, 2016 by the end of the Fall quarter.

She recapped how to find the Instructional Accreditation folder in Office 365 and gave an update on the committee’s progress.

Office 365 can be found in Banner under the Employees Tab.  Launch Office 365 then click on the OneDrive icon.

Strong Workforce Initiative – Randy Bryant

Espinosa-Pieb advised that Margaret Bdzil collected some CTE plan forms and there are more requests than available funding. This highlights the need for a “big picture” overview when allocating money.

Bryant suggested establishing an efficient process for Instructional Equipment and CTE fund allocation. He also suggested that the team wait to view the Instructional Equipment requests and see what requests could be covered out CTE and what general request could be covered out of Instructional Equipment, Lottery or AEBGM (Adult Education Block Grant Money).

Bryant shared that there is a regional CTE meeting on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Ohlone College Newark Campus.

Faculty Hiring

The Faculty Hiring request list consists of 21 positions for 2017 – 2018 FY.

Espinosa-Pieb stated that the College would be able to hire 8 positions. She also stated that she was hoping to get approval for a further 2 positions making a total of 10 positions for 2017 – 2018. She would advise the team on the final number of positions being authorized for hiring as soon as she knew. She reminded the team that enrollment and FON (Faculty Obligation Number) drives the number of positions that can be hired.  As the team knows, enrollment is down and the college is currently over FON. Enrollment and FON is calculated at the District and they are paying close attention to faculty hiring at both Colleges.

She recapped the Faculty Hiring process and instructed the IPBT members to refer the shared document “Hiring Data/Ranking 2017 – 2018” and “Faculty Position Justification 2017 – 2018” with their constituency groups and get feedback/questions in time for the next IPBT meeting on November 29, 2016.

The IPB Team was instructed to:

· Read Program Review (TracDat)

· Analyze Data (Faculty Inquiry Tool)

· Read Written Justifications (IPBT website)

· Meet with constituency groups (Academic Senate, Classified Senate)

Departments that are requesting more than one faculty position can determine the priority of their own department positions.

Espinosa-Pieb will email voting sheets to the members on Friday, December 2, 2016. Submissions should be emailed to Espinosa-Pieb only. The Faculty Hiring Voting results will be released at the December 6, 2016 meeting.
