Meet the Mentors!

Anita Adams Winter 2014 I am an Environmental Engineering major and Student Leader. This is my fourth year at De Anza and I've been a LEAD student for most of that time. Participating in LEAD has helped me become more involved on campus and I have since become the Co-Founder And Co-President of Women Empowered Club. This year I will be mentoring in Women Studies courses and I hope to create a continuing resource at De Anza that helps women students overcome retention challenges by connecting them to the resources they need to succeed.
Alina Hernandez Winter 2014 If you combined a love for LEAD with a dash of procrastination, followed by a spoonfull of creativity, and a whole lot of SuperWhoLock love- you would get Alina Hernandez.
	Cynthia Rodriguez Winter 2014 Hi there! My name is Cynthia Rodriguez and i'm at 2nd year at De Anza College and my major is Political Science! My passion is social justice and telling fiery inspirational stories. LEAD has helped me gain confidence as a person and give me a chance to be involved in my community and engage in on campus activities. In addition, being in LEAD, created meaningful relationships with amazing people who have the same common ground to create a better world! Peace and love.
	Vincent Mendoza Winter 2014 Hey all! My name is Vince Mendoza. During my high school years, I never would have thought I would be succeeding in college. My success in college came from the family and community I gained by being a part of LEAD. I mentor to help individuals see that change is possible and necessary in the many underrepresented communities in which our students represent. I am currently in my last year and have plans to transfer to San Jose State.
Evgueniy Bagdasaryan Winter 2014 Still undeclared, but open to possibilities. LEAD brought me out of my shell of avoiding people and got me involved with on campus conferences and activities.
Mia X. Hernandez Winter 2014 Hey there! My name is Mia X. Hernandez and I'm an Environmental Science Major. I've been a mentor with LEAD for the past year and have met some of my closest friends through the program. LEAD has helped me find community at De Anza and discover my passion for Community Organizing. When I'm not mentoring, you can find me taking photos, reading and chilling at Denny's. 	Arina Izadi Winter 2014 I'm a De Anza alumni and majoring in Linguistics in San Jose State. LEAD is a family to me. I did not know what I liked or what to do when I came to De anza. After getting to know LEAD in my EWRT 211, I felt connected. I had a chance to learn more about the society I live in and see the side that I would have never knew that could exist. I found my passion in social justice and just kept going with everyone's help and support.
	Jennifer Torres Winter 2014 I am majoring in Environmental Business. LEAD has helped become a better communicator with others and also helped me to find the tools that I need to help others. I am passionate about helping others and making a change to better our communities. Being In LEAD has empowered my thoughts and way of expression to take on any situation that I may come across. I now see my journey here at De Anza as a stepping stone to get to where I need to be in order to acheive my passions.
