WorldCat Local De Anza's New Library Catalog!
What is WorldCat Local?
WorldCat Local allows you to search for books, eBooks, articles, DVDs, and reserve items owned by the De Anza College Library. It is also a “world catalog” that includes materials held by other local, national, and international libraries.
How do I Access WorldCat Local?
Anyone can access WorldCat Local from the De Anza Library Website.
How Do I Search WorldCat Local?
Searching WorldCat Local is easy! The system defaults to items owned by the De Anza Library. But if you wish to search for resources owned globally by all other WorldCat libraries, use the pull down menu (right in the search box) and select Libraries Worldwide.
- Books: Enter the title, or author’s name or a subject into the search box. If De Anza owns the book and it is available, copy down the call number and come into the library.
- eBooks: Enter the title, or author’s name or a subject into the search box. If De Anza owns the e-book it will appear in the results. You may wish to use the library's eBook link to search exclusively for eBooks: De Anza eBook Collection. Off campus users will need an eight digit student, staff, or faculty id to view e-books.
-
Course Reserves: Students can search for course reserves in WorldCat Local. Look around the search box, and select the Reserves tab. Enter your instructor’s name or course name into the box, then search using the Reserve key.
-
DVDs: Look around the WorldCat Local Search box and select the DVD tab. Enter a DVD title or actor, or director, and search using the DVD key.
-
Articles, Including Journals, Peer-Reviewed, & Newspapers: First, look at the WorldCat Local Search box and select the Articles tab. Enter one or two key words describing your topic into the search box, then search using the Articles key. You will see a list of articles. At this point you can refine your search by date, or format, etc.
Please Note: WorldCat Local does not include all of the Databases owned by the De Anza Library. For a full list of our databases, use the link: Articles & Databases. - Advanced Searching: all of the above searches can be enhanced by selecting “Advanced Search”. With a little practice, you can limit your searches in a variety of ways.
WorldCat Local is maintained by Online Computer Library Center, Inc. (OCLC), “a nonprofit, membership, computer library service and research organization." Users may also search the World Cat catalog from the OCLC website: http://www.worldcat.org/
