New EV Charging Stations

Ten new charging stations for electric vehicles are now available for use in Parking Lot B, in the row closest to the L Quad.

The new ChargePoint stations were installed at the beginning of winter quarter in 2020. They replace older models on campus that were taken out of service because of recurring malfunctions and maintenance issues.

Anyone can open a free ChargePoint account and use the company's mobile app to operate one of the new stations. Users will pay about 39 cents per kilowatt hour, for now, through their ChargePoint account. The fee, which covers the cost of electricity and maintaining the stations, could be adjusted in the future based on usage and costs.

Drivers should follow standard EV etiquette and use the stations for charging – not for parking. The app will alert users when their car is fully charged.

Charging Etiquette

Please move your car to a regular spot when you’re finished, so someone else can recharge!

Installation of the new chargers came after extensive coordination by the college, the Foothill-De Anza district, campus constituencies and the vendor.
