    Meeting Items

    1. Current Projects
      1. One Book, One Campus, One Community mural project – The mural is completed. 
        Looks good.
      2. Art for Veterans Resource Center
        1. Met with Rob Mieso and Nazy Galoyan. A mural proposal was created by 
          Julie Hughes.
        2. $4000 has been set aside as an initial allocation for the mural.
        3. Decide on the next steps in the process, including the selection of an artist to
          design, prep the surface and paint the mural.
        4. Faculty will supervise students – Julie Hughes will confirm Eugene Rodriguez’
          interest and participation. The subject of the mural will necessitate input
          from participants.
        5. Solicit information from Veterans Services. Maybe Veteran’s Club, etc. Solicit
          input from the Rotary using a separate survey. Survey Veteran’s Services.
          Daniel Smith will set up a meeting. Ask about Veteran’s Club faculty advisor.
        6. Marisa’s team can help edit and distribute the survey. See if they have a past
          survey. Put together some sample questions and send them to Marisa’s.
      3. Cleaning existing art
        1. Need to determine who can perform the work, and solicit quotes as needed
          1. Turtle, Two as One, Time Graffiti – Diana Argabrite researched Turtle; 
            artist is deceased. Method of cleaning needs to be determined.
          2. VPAC benches – Submitted work order for benches March 25. Need 
            to find an outside contractor.
          3. Power washing of art work. Daniel Smith will engage someone to do 
            the work. Diana will check Turtle and Time Graffiti to see if they are 
            appropriate for power washing.
        2. Moto Ohtake is ready to refurbish the kinetic sculpture “Stellar Motion” in 
          front of A47. Submitted work order March 25.
      4. New public art courses
        1. Muralism - Eugene Rodriguez. – in the process of writing the course.
        2. Sculpture class – Julie Hughes. – in the process of writing the course.
    2. New projects
      1. Refresh art in campus display cases in Campus Center, Library
        1. Schedule time to review Campus Center hallways with Diana and Julie. Daniel Smith will schedule.
      2. Move items from where they are now.
        1. Liberty, African textiles from Library and other areas.
          1. Liberty would have to be deconstructed to be moved. Delay until next May/June when the carpet is changed. Refresh Admin building artafter that.
          2. African tapestries – Lloyd suggested a single display.
            1. Do an inventory, then decide on what to do with them.
              1. Tina Lockwood will create the inventory, with the location and a picture of each one
            2. Some are large, up to 10’ x 8’
            3. Roll them up
            4. Work order would likely involve removal, patch and paint
            5. Do a show with them
          3. List work orders on web site under project page. Daniel Smith will do.
            1. Need to find people who can hang the art
              1. A TEA designation for Museum preparator at $35/hour
              2. Need designated fund to draw from
      3. Project request form - Create a process for people to request art for their space.
        1. Form can be simple. Fields would include requestor’s name, where art should be, request for content, reason or rationale for change, and whether the request is funded or not
          1. Requests are often due to a change in the environment or a desire for a refresh. Daniel Smith can draft, ask Tina Lockwood to vet.
          2. Need a gatekeeper. Requests might be limited by funding question.
