Important–You're On Academic Probation

Dear Student,

We noticed your cumulative GPA, including grades for the 2022 fall quarter, is below 2.0. As a result, you are beginning an academic probation process.

You are not alone: Many students participate in the academic probation process each year, due to personal, financial, health or family issues that may affect their studies.

Here’s what this means: The required steps listed below are designed to help you get back on track with your academic goals, improve your GPA and avoid moving to the next level of probation.

We have confidence in you! We believe you can raise your GPA, but it is important that you contact the Retention Team to discuss your situation and develop a plan.

Two Required Steps

First: Contact the Retention Team to find out more about your academic probation level and to schedule a counseling appointment. You can reach the Retention Team in the following ways:

  • Submit an inquiry through eAdvising
      • Log in to the eAdvising system
      • Click “Ask a Question”
      • From the dropdown menu, select “Academic and Progress Probation Questions”
      • Type in your question, then click “Submit"
  • Attend a 15-minute online drop-in session
      • Mondays: 11 a.m.-noon
      • Tuesdays: 4-5 p.m.
      • Wednesdays: 1-2 p.m.
      • Thursdays: 2-3 p.m.
      • Fridays: 10-11 a.m.
      • Click here to join during the hours listed above
  • Call 408.864.8388 for assistance. (If you leave a message, be sure to include your full name and CWID.)

Second: Complete the online Student Self-Assessment Survey to help the Retention Team identify ways to assist you.

In addition:

  • If this is your first quarter on academic probation (Level 1), you are strongly encouraged to also complete one of these courses:
  • If this is your second quarter on probation (Level 2), you will be required to complete a Level 2 Workshop to review student success strategies.

We care about you: The Retention Team can connect you with on-campus support and services to assist you in raising your cumulative GPA to at least a 2.0, so you can regain good academic standing.

If you have any questions about the process, please feel free to contact the Retention Team through one of the methods listed above.

Best wishes,
De Anza College
