Video Highlights Real Estate Program
A new Career Training video highlights the benefits of studying Real Estate at De Anza, where students can learn from knowledgeable instructors with industry experience, with the option of taking noncredit courses for free.
“We’ve really got an all-star program,” said instructor Mark Sherby, who chairs the Real Estate Department. In addition to working in real estate, he said, the faculty includes instructors with training in law, business and accounting.
De Anza is one of very few community colleges in California that offers a free, noncredit option for all of its Real Estate courses – including courses that satisfy state requirements for taking the California real estate licensing exam. Sherby also noted that most of the required textbooks can be borrowed from De Anza’s Library for no cost.
Also featured in the video are two recent alumni of the program: Former student Mahmut Altun said instructors were helpful in building his confidence, while Sunita Merchia said her classes were closely aligned with practical, real-world issues in the profession.
The new video is the latest in a series highlighting De Anza’s Career Technical Education programs. Previous installments have included a career training overview and videos highlighting the Business Administration, Design and Manufacturing Technologies, Health Technologies, Film and Television, Automotive Technology, Journalism and Child Development and Education programs. Future installments will feature other programs and groups of related offerings.
The videos are developed by the Office of Communications in collaboration with the Career Technical Education Division and individual departments. They can be seen on the college YouTube channel, the Career Training website and on social media.
