De Anza Guitar Students: Open mics are a great way to hear performers of all levels, but are not eligible as Concert Reports (though extra credit can be earned by attending)

San Francisco Conservatory of Music: too many guitar events to list in April and May; while events are student recitals, the level is high - thus they all qualify for Concert Report Credit!

We are excited to welcome Xavier Jara and Bradley Pupa in conjunction with the San Francisco Conservatory of Music guitar department. Both are extraordinary young artists, and the evening will surely be one not to miss!
Xavier Jara received 1st place in a number of international competitions including
the Viseu International Competition (2014), the Boston Guitarfest (2014), the Gargnano,
Italy Competition (2015), the Ciudad de Coria Competition (2015), and the Tokyo International
Competition (2016). In 2016 Jara returned home to the United States to win the prestigious
Guitar Foundation of America’s Rose Augustine Grand Prize. Javier is a Master’s degree
student at the San Francisco Conservatory studying with Judicael Perroy.
Currently continuing his studies at the San Francisco Conservatory to pursue a Master’s Degree under the tutelage of Marcin Dylla, Marc Teicholz, and Judicael Perroy, Bradley Pupa has won prizes in numerous competitions and performed throughout the United States. Bradly’s recent musical projects have involved a performance with the Gold Coast Concert Chorus of Jeffrey Van’s rarely heard work for solo guitar and full chorus, A Procession Winding Around Me. Other performances include an appearance at the 3rd International Biasini Festival and the 2017 Guitar Foundation of America festival performing Nazcan by Javier Farias in an ensemble directed by David Tannenbaum.
