New Video: A Vision for Village Centers

Join the Collegewide Celebration Tomorrow, Feb. 13

With the Village Centers anniversary celebration coming up tomorrow, Feb. 13, a new video features two faculty leaders in the Guided Pathways initiative talking about their vision for the centers as places where students and everyone on campus can find a community.

“We started imagining everything we could do with something called 'Villages,' and how we could make these nurturing environments,” said Kim Palmore, a Guided Pathways co-coordinator and English instructor.

“These are spaces for students and faculty and classified professionals to come and spend time in, and hang out and connect,” said Brian Malone, Villages team co-lead and also an English instructor. “We have a really ambitious plan for events in these spaces.”

Everyone’s welcome to visit all six Village Centers, or as many as you can, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow. Each Village Center will host an hour of special activities at a different time, with different snacks and souvenirs, plus karaoke, networking, cookie decorating and more!

  • 9-10 a.m. – Business and Finance Village: AT 202
  • 10-11 a.m. – Artistic Expression: L 21
  • 11 a.m.-noon – Language and Communications: L 47
  • Noon to 1 p.m. – Social Sciences and Humanities: L 73
  • 1 to 2 p.m. – Health and Life Sciences: SEM 2
  • 2 to 3 p.m. – Physical Sciences and Technology: S 55

(Watch for short videos of faculty members talking about the Villages, and more in our Villages series – coming soon!)

The Village Centers opened in February 2023 as spaces on campus where students can find community with peers, faculty and staff members who are associated with each Village. You can also visit your Village Center throughout the quarter for special activities, services and resources – including instructor and counselor office hours – that are relevant to your Village’s majors and programs.

The anniversary celebration is sponsored by De Anza Student Government (DASG) and the Guided Pathways initiative. For a detailed schedule of activities and a map of the Village Center locations, visit deanza.edu/villages/centers.
