New Video: 'Tops in Transfer'
As many students prepare to graduate and transfer to universities, a new video shows the many reasons why De Anza College is “Tops in Transfer,” with testimonials from students, a transfer counselor and a university representative.
The video will be shared through social media, the internet and other channels where it can reach prospective students, parents, high school counselors and others. It was developed by the Office of Communications in collaboration with De Anza's Transfer Center and others on campus.
De Anza is consistently at or near the top, statewide, in university transfer rates because of its strong academic programs and “comprehensive transfer support and services,” said Khoa Nguyen, counselor/coordinator for the Transfer Center, in the video.
The Transfer Center offers a variety of services including counseling, workshops and opportunities for De Anza students to meet with university representatives at the annual Transfer Fair and throughout the year, he noted.
De Anza’s high transfer rate is a reflection of how well-prepared its students are for the transfer application process, said Purvi Shah, a transfer admissions counselor/recruiter for San José State University.
That track record appeals to students like Business Administration major Noor Aldimassi. She said she came to De Anza because of its high transfer rate and the De Anza College Promise, which is helping pay for her first two years of college, before she transfers.
De Anza was “the best option for me,” added Micaiah Wood, a student-athlete and Kinesiology major. Sports are "cool and whatever,” he explained, but the academic programs are “what’s going to get me the farthest.”
