An acclaimed San Jose artist and several De Anza students have begun work on a special outdoor mural that will commemorate the college's 50th Anniversary, marking the end of a yearlong celebration.

Roxana Castellón found what she was looking for at De Anza. She's a student in Design and Manufacturing Technologies, working toward a certificate as a CNC Research and Development Machinist.

Christina Espinosa-Pieb will serve as interim president starting July 1 when President Brian Murphy retires. The selection was announced Tuesday by Chancellor Judy Miner.

In this new video, DJ Patil speaks about the importance of community colleges and his own experience at De Anza. Patil, the former U.S. Chief Data Scientist, gave a May 7 talk at a special 50th Anniversary event on campus.

DJ Patil, a De Anza alumnus, earned a Ph.D. in mathematics and was the first Chief Data Scientist for the United States during the Obama Administration. He'll be speaking on campus about "Engaging the Future."

Join us for the May 18 dedication of the Gene Haas Center for Design and Manufacturing at De Anza College. The college was awarded a $1 million gift by the Gene Haas Foundation to expand its Design and Manufacturing Technologies (DMT) classrooms and labs.

President Brian Murphy has announced plans to retire at the end of the academic year, after leading one of California's most distinguished community colleges for the past 14 years.

The DASB and Inter Club Council are sponsoring a series of midday concerts on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9-11. Each will be held on the Campus Center Patio - or if it rains, inside the Campus Center Main Dining Room.

"Chill City" is an opportunity to de-stress before the start of Finals Week. Everyone is welcome to grab a snack, play a game or visit with some friendly therapy dogs.

Matt Trosper, who has been De Anza's athletics academic coordinator for 27 years, will be honored next month with an award from a statewide professional group, the Community College Counselors/Advisors Academic Association for Athletics (3C4A).
