Sandra Diaz Health Professions Roundtable
The fourth annual Sandra Diaz Health Professions Roundtable will take place tomorrow (Wednesday, March 6) from 6-7:30 p.m. in MLC 255 and over Zoom. The Diversity Health Care and Engagement
Committee presents the panel in memory of nursing instructor Sandra Diaz to encourage students towards a career in health care.
The event features panelists from a variety of nursing careers, including Yessica Xitlalic Riles, labor and delivery nurse; Daniela Vargas, co-chair of the National Commission to Address Racism in Nursing; PeelGadol Ben Yisrael, De Anza nursing student; and Rosafel Nogra, clinic director of De Anza Student Health Services. UCSF Summer Internship
Learn more about the Youth Equity Science summer internship at UCSF during the MESA online information session tomorrow (Wednesday, March 6) from 12:30-1:30 p.m. The paid internship is at UCSF’s Quantitative Biosciences Institute and will range from 6-8 weeks over the summer. Please register in advance to attend the information session.
Celebrate Nowruz and Arrival of Spring
Everyone’s invited to a celebration of Nowruz – marking the arrival of spring and a new year for millions of people around the world – at a special event hosted by International
Student Programs this Monday, March 11.
There will be traditional snacks, music, costumes and fun at this event, from noon to 3 p.m. in Conference Rooms A&B of the Campus Center. Find more information and sign up to attend at deanza.edu/international/nowruz.
Music Department Concerts Next Week
There will be two Music Department concerts next week in the Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC). The Jazz Ensemble, Vintage Singers, Vocal Flight and Chamber Music students will perform this Monday, March 11, at 7 p.m. The Chamber Orchestra, Chorale and Vintage Singers will perform the works of Handel on the following Sunday, March 17. Admission is $5 for students and $10 for the general public.
“Searching for Justice: Life After Lockup” Film Screening Next Week
Join Rising Scholars, the Equity and Engagement Division and the Office of Professional
Development for a film screening of the PBS NewsHour documentary “Searching for Justice: Life After Lockup.” The film focuses on the many challenges individuals face after incarceration, from
reconnecting with family to finding work and staying out of jail.
The screening will be followed by a panel of students, alumni, faculty members, staff and administrators who will share their experiences with incarceration and the criminal justice system. Stop by the Multicultural Center activity area next Wednesday, March 13, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. to learn how you can help formerly incarcerated and otherwise justice-impacted students. The event is open to all and refreshments will be provided. Employees can earn PGA by attending the event.

Anza College students, faculty members and classified professionals.
