Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Caravan

De Anza College has been selected as one of the host sites for the Transfer Guarantee to Historically Black Colleges and Universities Caravan this fall. The event will take place on Thursday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Main Quad. Some of the event activities will include representative visits from HBCU partner institutions, information about scholarships – like the Hoffman Agency HBCU Scholarship, workshops, potential on-site admissions, prizes, music and more. Help Is Available If You're Feeling Anxious About the Middle East

If you are feeling stressed or anxious about recent events in Israel and Gaza, there is help available to you. Students can contact De Anza's Mental Health and Wellness Center to request individual counseling, or use TimelyCare to speak with a mental health professional online, any time, for free. Employees can find support through the Foothill-De Anza district's Employee Assistance Program

Don't Be Alarmed: Federal Emergency Alert Test

Federal authorities will conduct a brief test of the nationwide emergency alert system by sending a message to all mobile phones, as well as radio and TV receivers, at 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4. This test is being conducted by FEMA and the Federal Communications Commission. If you receive the test message, you don't need to do anything.

Parking Remains Free for Fall Quarter

Under a temporary policy, parking is free and permits are not required for the 2023-24 academic year. Students should continue to to park only in spaces designated for students. Visit the Parking Information website to learn more.

New Location: ISP Transfer Fair This Week

This year's International Student Programs Transfer Fair will be held this week on Wednesday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Campus Center Conference Rooms A&B. (The event has been relocated from the Main Quad because of expected rain.)

The fair is organized primarily for students on F-1 visas but is open to all students. Representatives from more than 40 universities, including most of the UC and CSU campuses, will be attending.

De Anza and Foothill colleges have upgraded their course registration system with a new interface that should make it easier to sign up for classes. You can still use the old "classic" system to register for spring quarter, but you also have the option to try out the new system.

As part of the market analysis underway, the consultant for the Foothill-De Anza Community College District will conduct two open meetings via Zoom on Thursday, Feb. 23, to gather input on how to provide the most useful event center space possible. Run, Hide, Defend: Active Assailant Training

UPDATE: The in-person sessions scheduled at Foothill and De Anza this week have been canceled, but the online session is still being offered. This two-hour training course for students, faculty and staff will provide an overview of campus safety and how to protect yourself in the event of an active assailant.

Campus Remains Closed Thursday – Will Resume Normal Friday Operations

College offices will resume normal Friday operations tomorrow – Jan. 6 – after being closed for two days because of anticipated severe weather.

  • Most college offices are offering online assistance: Please check the website of the office you would like to visit for detailed information.
  • The Child Development Center will also resume normal operation on Friday.
  • Winter quarter classes will begin as scheduled on Monday, Jan. 9.

If you are having difficulty submitting your COVID-19 vaccination record or if the registration system says you are not in compliance even though you submitted your vaccination record more than 3 days ago, you can get assistance by sending an email to Nazy Galoyan, dean of Enrollment Services. Please send the email to galoyannazy@deanza.edu and be sure to include your full name, your 8-digit CWID number and a copy of your vaccination document. (It may take 1-2 days for you to receive a response.)
